Converting awards to the new system

The transition will be effective for domestic, non-competing awards between October 1, 2014, and September 30, 2015. NIH plans to make the transition as easy as possible for grantees. The transition will take place by converting payments for continuing domestic awards from PMS pooled accounts to P subaccounts. After October 1, 2014, the new system will establish a subaccount for each NIH award made on or after this date.
In the new system, the “converted award” refers to nonqualified stock options, restricted stock units, and other awards denominated in shares. The terms of the Benefits and Compensation Matters Agreement will apply to a converted award. A “covered employee” is someone who is protected by Code Section 162(m). “Director” refers to a member of the Board of Directors of a company.
